It rode like a dream. It accelerated and turned about like I expected. But the brakes, or rather, the lack there of, were what I noticed most. My dad instructed me to perform a panic stop on an empty road at 30mph. All 4 tires locked up, and the car veered to the left and skidded to a stop, a very long ways away from where I had first braked. As it turns out, the best way to stop a 6000lb Cadillac without ABS is to use the back of the car in front of you.

You should look at 2nd gen Trans Ams... They do the same thing but with more 70s style

Tried that too. It resulted in a slightly jerkier stop, not much else.

One thing I really miss on new cars is the ability to slide to a stop partly sideways in the oncoming lane within a cloud of tire smoke. ABS takes all the fun and theatrics out of panic stops.

I still start stopping way sooner than most people on the road due to my formative experiences in 60s and 70s land yachts and suburbans.
